I wanted a simple plug and play theme. Not all this messing around!! Wordpress.com does not allow FTP transfers and I can’t increase the file size.
-
Hello,
Sorry but this is not enough reason to unsure a refund. Please read here the Envato refund policy: https://themeforest.net/page/customer_refund_policy
Best regards!

The theme purchased is not as described and does not work the way it should.
It was advertised as a WordPress.com theme, but is too large a file size to install and WordPress.com does not allow FTP transfers. So…. what do you suggest?
Your reply above is particularly UNHELPFUL

“If an item doesn’t work the way it should and can’t easily be fixed you are entitled to a refund of the item. This includes situations where the item has a problem that would have stopped you from buying it if you’d known about the problem in the first place. If the item can be fixed, then the author is required to do so promptly by updating the item otherwise you are entitled to a refund of that item.”
I’m pretty sure that had it been made clear this item was not going to install on WP.com I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED IT.
I have never had this issue with any other provider – such a poor experience!

Hello,
Sorry but you are misunderstanding the situation. This is a wordpress theme and can be installed and work very well in every wordpress installation. Be it in a stand alone server or shared hosting.
The fact that you do not have enough access rights, to perform changes like increase the file import size or memory limit used. or even have access to files using a normal ftp account, this is not responsibility of theme.
Wordpress.com does not allow other themes other than the ones of wordpress.org. In our theme’s profile is not mentioned that you can use it in wp.com. So you were not misleaded from us. Check again theme’s profile here: https://themeforest.net/item/specular-responsive-multipurpose-business-theme/9412083?s_rank=2Theme is indeed very easy to use. All you have to do is:
1-install it;
2-install included plugins;
3-import demo data;
that’s it! Then keep on editing the demo data to your wish or create new pages from scratch using the very handful Visual Composer.This item has no problem working as it should. It is tested multiple times from our staff and the Envato staff before launching on sale. There is nothing to fix from theme part. The thousand satisfied clients can guarantee it.
Please check theme’s profile in Themeforest for more testimonials.
Try installing it in another server and you will see that the issue is not the theme but the server restrictions you are using it in.Best regards!

Your comment is incorrect. As a WP.com business plan you are able to install other themes just fine. I have on multiple occasions.
The issue is your file size. If your theme is not an easy install as claimed and you haven’t made clear that by “WordPress” you are only referring to WordPress.org or that your customers are required to purchase additional tools to make yours install, then it IS misleading.
You “Support” is rude, most condescending and incorrect.
Envato clearly state that if there is an issue with the product that would have stopped me from purchasing it, had it been made clear, then I am entitled to a refund. I look forward to your processing it promptly, so that I can continue with my build with an alternative product.
Best regards!

Hello,
NO theme purchased in Themeforest can be installed in WordPress.com.
We are sorry, but we can’t refund you.If you have any question regarding the issue, you can write at Envato support.
Regards!

HiRuco,
So despite your themes clearly stating they are WORDPRESS themes, you and your colleague are now saying they can be installed in neither WordPress.com or WordPress.org?!
Most other “WordPress” themes can be installed with no issue. I contacted WordPress, and they have confirmed to me via email that your theme is incompatible with WordPress. I will be writing to Envato with this transcript of extremely poor customer service – you have been zero help, and it looks to me like your product is a complete rip off!
I’ll be sure to leave plenty of feedback on all relevant forums so that others are not ripped off like this.

Hi There
Just wondering if you are going to reply to my email. I’d like an explanation as to why you have stated above that it is very simple to install, but despite being a WP theme, not for either WP.com or WP.org? I’ve never had any issues installing WP themes from other providers.
I will be writing to Envato to dispute this so would like a full and proper explanation as to the issue here. Really, your absolutely terrible post-sale customer “support” alone ought to be grounds for a refund!
Looking forward to your reply.

Hello,
Sorry there was a speedy mistake in the last reply.
Edited: NO theme purchased in Themeforest can be installed in WordPress.comRead this article from Envato forum for more details on the matter of why Themeforest themes are not made for WordPress.com:
https://forums.envato.com/t/locked-wordpress-com-not-compatible-with-third-party-themes/75490/5
It is clearly stated that: “Themes sold here are WordPress themes which can be installed on your own hosting space, shared hosting which supports php/mysql, locally or as you’ve said on WordPress.org.
You should have checked with WP.com before you bought a theme from here, since sellers or envato have no idea where are you going to host your theme.
***
This only happens to new WordPress users, where they only know about WordPress.Com for free blogging. Please keep in mind that all free services have their limitations”
–Regarding support: You asked a question and we replied. I am sorry it’s not the answer you wanted to read, but these are the rules of theme marketplace. We are not the only ones responsible for them.
Summery:
You wanted a refund due to a mistake purchase because of not enough information on the limitations of your host. By Envato refund rules, this is not a reason to get a refund as it is not a theme’s fault.We are sorry for this inconvenience but this is not our responsibility.
Sincerely,
Codeless Team! -
I am not a ‘new’ WordPress user, I have built a number of websites in self-hosted environments and also in WordPress.com (BUSINESS – paid version) where I have happily uploaded and used third-party themes. In fact, when this product was not what was described (and it looks as though MULTIPLE other people have had the same issue), I bought another theme from a reputable 3rd party and installed it on WordPress.com JUST FINE.
Please see here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/ – perhaps you are not familiar with this?
When you advertise an item as a WORDPRESS theme, and WordPress.com allows me to upload 3rd party themes, and I had checked for version compatibility – why would I ask WP to verify if your product works?
If you know it only works in a self-hosted environment then you need to state that.
At the end of the day, I have purchased a product that I am unable to use and is not fit for purpose. I’m very happy to take this matter further. Honestly – the time you are wasting responding to my complaint and the others I have seen, it would have been cheaper for you to refund me.
