When I add or try an edit a VC element, the pop up box just opens and has a loading wheel, but never fully loads. Can you help me solve this?
I believe I have the latest version of Specular theme, but additionally would like instructions on how to update the theme when an update is released. Does it update automatically? Do I need to upload the theme again? I have made minor customizations and would like to update without losing all my work. Please advise.

What version of Visual Composer do you have? This is a known issue for old VC versions. The latest version included in Specular theme package is Visual Composer 5.2.
To update plugin from theme, you need to update theme first. Because the plugins files are inside theme’s package, you need to have the latest version of theme in order for the latest included version of the plugin to be installed.
Please follow the steps:
1-Go to Plugins, Deactivate WP Bakery plugin and then delete it, including it’s files;
2-Back to your dashboard, you will find a message requiring you to install WP Bakery plugin;
That’s it. If you are using a child theme, please make sure to switch to parent theme before trying to install included plugins. Or you will have an “wrong path” error showing. After updating with success, switch back to child theme.
Updating theme will overwrite all existing files. So if you have made direct changes to your current theme files, they will be overwritten. You can either remake these changes after update, or copy and replace only the changes files from the update. A list with all changed files from one update to another can be found in the themes profile in Themeforest.

I believe I have the latest version of the theme, and also of visual composer. I tried following your directions and deleting the plugin and re-downloading it, however I am experiencing the same issue. Some of the VC element settings will work, where some will continue to have the loading wheel. Can I give you login credentials to troubleshoot?
Thank you. I have just created another admin user account and added the credentials to my extra fields in my profile. Please let me know if you need anything else to gain access and assess the issue.
As an example, it seems to be the “Service Small Icons” VC element that I keep running into issue on. On my front page I am experiencing issue and also others when trying to use that element.

I see you are using the latest Visual Composer vs 5.2.1 which is not yet tested with theme and may result in having incompatibility. Please use the included in theme version of the plugin. Find it in your wp-content\themes\specular\plugins folder and activate it for the time being.
I have notified the developers and we will check this out asap.
