Hi guys,
I’ve purchased your fantastic Specular theme and I am in the process of installing it. I had several issues with importing dummy data as it was getting stuck at 65%. I have searched your forum and I found out it might have been a problem with my hosting company. I contacted them and they have imported it for me, by increasing first the timeout limit.
Despite it now has reached the 100%, when I check my site I get a 404 error message instead of the business 2 demo theme I selected to import. Checking WordPress, I see that it imported no pages, comments, faqs, sliders, etc. It imported only media and menus successfully.
Any idea of what the issue might be?
-
Hello,
The import has not been complete. Your host company should have increase the memory limit as well. When you import images (attachments) too, the size of the data to load increases. Ask your host to increase memory as well, and try to import demo data again.
Let us know.Best regards!
-
Mihaila,
first, thanks for your reply. But I want to cry.
I’ve gone back and forth with my hosting company (SiteGround) about 10 times, where they’ve claimed to have increased timeout limit as well as memory limit (to 256M).
I have even tried to reinstall my WordPress from scratch and:
- if I don’t import attachments, the import goes through but it doesn’t (obviously) import images and sliders
- After the reinstallation of WordPress, at least I now can see pages, comments and other items being correctly imported
- If I try importing also the attachments, the import gets stuck again at 65%.
I almost gave up and I tried to build sliders myself to look like your Business 2, then I gave up because the Rev Slider is too complex to use to recreate those sliders.
What else can I do?! Thanks for your help.

Hello,
You can import the dummy data without slider images. I can send you them, or just save them from our online demo, if they are missing.
You can import slider dummy data (revolution slider), the file is included in theme package.
Or I can configure the theme for you, including slider, just write your credentials in a private reply.
Best regards!

Hi, I know this is the Specular forum but I have exactly the same issue with Tower and I’m also hosted on SiteGround.
I have been in contact with their Support and have gotten closer to fully importing the demo content, the progress bar goes to 100% now but from the look of the frontend it’s still not right.
Could you advise how to resolve this?
Regards,

Hello,
@marcomeinardi,
I imported dummy data. The pages, posts and portfolio items. I imported two Revolution sliders too. Please continue with further customization.
@mecsdubai,
I can see you do have data in your site. Did you manage to import them?
PS:Please write at your theme specific forum. So that others can make use of your solution.Best regards!

I have some data in the site now but I think it is incomplete. Could you please inspect what is there? I tried to import the Digital Agency demo and it don’t think it has worked 100%. There are empty widget areas and missing details.
Thank you
-
Mihaila,
thanks for your help but unfortunately I’m not happy with the result, here’s why:
- the sliders you imported are not from the demo I have mentioned “business 2” (or business clean). They simply look completely different.
- your set them as aliases “slider1” and “slider2” when the template expects different aliases (“home”
- The top bar mentioning address, phone number and having the social media icons has been replaced by a “Hello, Welcome to the Specular Mega Bundle Theme”
- The menu items have changed into a different list from the one I had before and from the home of the chosen demo theme (Business 2)
- The images of the team are no longer displayed
- I still have the issues I have reported above regarding missing bottom widgets, images or titles of the sections “why choose us”.
I am focused on the goal here and I try to get this resolved, but I’ve been spending so many hours on this import so far that my initial experience with the Specular theme is not great. Can you please take the bull by the horns here and get this import done for me so that I can start editing an exact copy of the Business2 demo theme?
I’m available to reinstall WordPress from scratch if it helps to start with a clean environment.
Thank you very much (sorry for the rant but my frustration level is high).
Best,
Marco

Hello,
1-Usually customers edit the sliders to their need. The sliders uploaded have many layers and effect and would be easier for you to just edit it, instead of creating it from scratch. However, i imported the bussiness2 slider too. It’s already set up in home page.
2-That is not an issue as you can change at anytime any slider you use in page’s General Settings > Sliders.
3-The top bar is just a location containing widgets. In the demo are the address, phone and social media. You could easily change them from your Appearance > Widget menu. I’m changing this for you too.
4-Since there was a dummy data import, some customizations are overwriten. You get that notification first when trying to import data. Just edit menu items once again. Add the pages you want to display.
5-I can see the team featured image (screenshot). Which one is not displaying? Make sure they all have featured image.
6-After importing dummy data, you have to customize them. The work doesn’t end with data import. The missing ” bottom widgets, images or titles of the sections ‘why choose us’” are not an issue. You have to add the imported content to where you want it to be.PS: Please note that most of these are customizations that this support is not responsible for. They are not actual issues. You have no problems in your site. Jsut need to edit it. Read theme documentation and watch our online video tutorials to have a more clear view of what you need to do to have the most out of it.
Best regards!

Hello,
@mecsdubai,
If the data import reached 100% and you saved them, then you do have all needed. Just continue customizing it. A common mistake is to require that the dummy data import sets everything to it’s place. It does give you all post/pages/portfolio items already created, but there are theme set ups that you have to do yourself. Like assigning a main menu; add the menu items you want to it; assign the home page, blog to Settings > Readings; add widgets to footer or top bar..etc.
This type of customizationes are not included in theme support policy, but we can help you get in the right direction.I already added the footer widgets, but you need to customize the id’s of twitter and flicker accounts.
Best regards!

Mihalia,
sorry to see you’re taking this personally.
No need to respond to each of my point, I gave you those examples to highlight how the manual import still did not achieve the desired result, as I have identified lots of differences between mine and the online version of the demo theme (https://codeless.co/specular/business2/).
If the Specular import functionality worked fine, we wouldn’t be at this stage. I agree with you that your template requires configuration and I’m absolutely ready to learn. However, I need to clear starting point. A baseline to build on. And that was exactly the “Business 2” demo I’ve been trying to import for a week now.
Today, still, my website doesn’t look like Business 2 unfortunately. Different menus, different pages and even the sliders you’ve imported are different (the one on the home page has only one slide and it’s non even responsive!).
You’re not responsible for customising my theme, I 100% agree. But you’re responsible to make the import functionality WORK. Otherwise your theme is unusable to me. Either you contact my provider and tell them what to do on WordPress or you help me by importing things manually. Either or, I need to get this done and I need it to look exactly like “Business 2”.
How do you suggest we move forward? Right now, it’s a mess.
Thank you.
Marco

Hello,
First, i am not taking anything personally. It is my duty to respond to each of your points and clarify your uncertainties.
-I changed the “Who are we” accordition element. Since it is deprecated from an earlier version of Visual Composer, it was necessary to recreate it. I added this code:.vc_tta.vc_general .vc_tta-panel-title{ margin: 0; line-height: 1; font-family: Roboto; line-height: 20px; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; color: #777; font-size: 13px; } .vc_tta-color-grey.vc_tta-style-classic .vc_tta-panel.vc_active .vc_tta-panel-heading { border:none; } .vc_tta-color-grey.vc_tta-style-classic .vc_tta-panel .vc_tta-panel-body { border:none; } .vc_tta-color-grey.vc_tta-style-classic .vc_tta-panel .vc_tta-panel-heading { border:none; } span.vc_tta-title-text:hover { color: #eaa133; } .vc_active span.vc_tta-title-text { color: #eaa133; } .vc_tta-panels { padding-top: 40px; } #1443169700895-df8859d4-ce97 .vc_tta-panels{ height: 41px;}
Into your custom css box, to make it’s style the closest to the demo. We will include these changes in the next theme update.
-To change menu items, please go to Appearance > Menus and add/remove the pages you need to display.
-The home slider in demo has the same slider as the one imported, it is just that the demo has that slide dublicated. (two same sliders). I checked it and it is responsive (screenshot).
-The import functionality does work. It is impossible to have all configurations pre-created with only an import action. Please have patience to discover and use the many features our theme has to offer.
If you have any question on how to achieve anything, just write us. We are trying our best to help all our customers have the best experience with Specular.
Best regards!

Mihaila,
be sure I’m not having a good experience with Specular. And it’s not due to the technology, which really seems outstanding so far, but because of how you’re handling support. Here’s why:
1) I had to wait 24 hours for each reply. And given we’re moving nowhere each time, this is impacting the deadlines I have with my business
2) The import functionality does not work properly on standard WordPress installs (I never managed to get over 65% despite all the manipulation on the WordPress side), while you’re stating the opposite, not sure on which grounds
3) When I opened this ticket to report that the import was “half done”, your colleague Ruco has been so kind to propose to configure for me the missing bits
4) I supplied Ruco with a detailed list of the things that were missing from the import (as private message since it was containing my login credentials)
5) The day after I looked at my website and instead of seeing the import completed I saw you (Mihaila) had imported sliders from a different demo theme (maybe Minimal 2), that the menu items were completely different from the one I had before and that the other missing bits were still missing. Basically, instead of completing the import, you have broken even what I was considering “working”.
6) I then kindly asked you to start over because something did not go right when you tried to complete the import, but instead you’ve insisted on trying to fix the current broken installation, achieving only partial results that have forced me to follow up on this ticket again and again, while increasing my level of frustration.
7) When I told you the slider is not responsive, instead of asking me why do I say so, you are confidently stating that it “is” responsive. Let me clarify here that if you drag the edges of your browser to reside the window, the slider does not resize as the rest of the content (see my screenshot). This instead is the case if you drag the edges of the online Business2 demo. Therefore the slider has some problems.
8) You’ve put some custom CSS code for making the “Why choose us” section look different. Not sure why you did it since I only told you the titles were missing (so it was a content problem, not a styling problem). And you made the style look even different from what is on https://codeless.co/specular/business2/ – why?! Which demo are you looking at?!
9) I still have the same problem as when I opened this ticket and I don’t think this is a good achievement for you. I believe if you handled it right by importing the right sliders and addressing the other missing bits I mentioned, we wouldn’t be at this stage.
As I almost feel like asking you to give me my money back, I actually want to give you one last chance. Can I please have someone else other than Mihaila to handle this ticket? As I think there is definitely a communication problem between us.
If yes, then this is what I think we’re going to do:
- I will reinstall WordPress from scratch on my instance
- I will reinstall the Specular theme
- I will initiate the import of Business 2 that will get stuck at 65%
- I will make a list of the bits that I think are missing and/or different from your online version of Business 2
- I will give you my administrator credentials
- I will kindly ask you to manually import the missing bits as per my list to make the theme look like Business 2
I’m not going to ask you to configure anything different than what the demo has at the moment. I just ask you to help me to complete something that the automatic import is unable to complete, as it gets stuck at 65%. I hope this is within your support policy (which I guess it is, given that Ruco has made the initial proposal).
Please confirm that this is doable and I will proceed as stated. Please do reply me now so I can start working on this today, I can’t wait until Monday afternoon (I’m in Europe) to start doing this.
Thank you.
Marco

Please be patient. We will configure it as in demo. ate working with it now. Will let you know when done.

Hello mecsdubai,
Do you want me to login and setup anything? Do you need help with something?
Let me know.
Ps. Please open a new topic at Tower’s form, to make it easier for me and you to follow up the conversation.
Best regards!
-
Thank you Ruco, your help is much appreciated.
Do you have a rough estimate of how long this is going to take? I need to plan my work for the week and having this estimate would help.
Thank you very much again.
Best regards,
Marco

Hello marcomeinardi,
I set up the theme, now it’s exactly like the demo.
You can do the changes you want.Added some info which was missing at widgets, fixed the accordion style.
The menu seems not complete but you have all the pages that are in demo, just add them in menu if you want.Because the menu was very big, and you have execution time limit on your host, it wasn’t saved complete, but it’s not a problem since you will add your own pages.
If you need more info on how to configure/use the theme read the theme documentation https://codeless.co/documentation
Best regards!
-
Ruco,
thanks for your help. There were other few different bits, but I think I almost fixed them all by playing with the theme settings.
However, there are a couple of things I still need your help with:
- The home slider does not resize when dragging the edge of the browser window, as opposed to the one on your online demo (see my screenshot here)
- The slider with alias “about” in the “About Us” page is still missing, can you add it? It should look exactly like the one on your Business 2 online demo.
Thank you.
Marco
-
Hello,
Please refresh the page after re-sizing window. You will see that the slider re-sizes.
I importer the revolution slider for About Us page.Best regards!
-
Ruco.
Thanks. If I refresh the page obviously it resizes but I assume this is not the desired behaviour. When I drag the edges of your online Business2 demo (https://codeless.co/specular/business2/) the slider resizes without having to refresh the page.
Can you please advise how to fix that? Having to refresh the page is not the solution I’m looking for…
Thank you again.
Best,
Marco

Hello,
The demo site uses an older version of Revolution Slider. Check the slider settings about the responsive.
Best regards!

I’ve tried installing the Tower theme a few times and continue to have a few files say they had errors. Also, I would love to have the site look just like the demo to start with and I have struggled using the online Tower builder and demo importer. Can you help me out please?
One other strange issue is the drop down field for the typography section in the Tower Settings was missing completely. The label for that field was there, but the dropdown was just completely missing. Again, I tried reinstalling, but still having issues. I’m installing via Dreamweaver.
