I have been attempting to edit the bios on my “about” page so that it will increase the word limit to show the entire bio, however no matter how much I increase it, it never does. Also, in the process of playing with it some more, my page has now disappeared and I can’t tell by looking at the code what happened. Can you help?
I also still have a lot of white space between the pictures and the text of the bios and was told that I modified it in some way, which I didn’t intend to. Can you also help me get this back in line?
Thank you.

Hello,
What changes did you do exactly?
I can suggest you get a fresh copy of theme files and update your current theme. Or if you want to keep it (if you have made a lot of changes directly in it’s files) then just rename the new theme folder and upload it in your server. So you can have both copies. The new and the old version. (screenshot). Activate them one at a time to troubleshoot the “About us” page. Recreate the page if necessary.
Please know that the changes you make to theme files to style it to your wish, are not included in support service.Best regards!

All I tried to do was increase the word limit of the bios as you recommended. I really wasn’t trying to over personalize it. Can you look at the code to see what might have happened? I put a lot of work into it and am really In desperate need of help. As far as the space beneath the images, again I wasn’t trying to personalize it, I just put in some images.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hello,
The culprit is the staff element. Once removed the staff, the page is displaying. Perhaps you made some mistake in the code while editing it to show more characters. Please download a fresh copy of theme files and copy file \vc_templates\staff.php. Replace your current version with the newly downloaded one, to overwrite all changes you have made to it.
Then add your ftp credentials in your profile so we can access it and make the changes for you.
Best regards!

I updated my profile to add credentials, but I am a little afraid to download new theme files for the fear of copying over what I have already done.
-
Hello,
Please check the ftp credentials. The link is not correct and i can not login. Ask you host to give some valid credentials.
I told you to download a fresh copy of theme files, but you would import in your wordpress installation wp-content/themes/tower folder, ONLY the staff.php file. So nothing of what you had previously changed, would have been lost.
Upload just this file in your server. Rename the old version as staff_old.php so you’ll have a backup of it.

Hello,
I was able to login into your wp-content/themes/tower folder thru ftp. I replaced the staff.php file and edited our the number of excerpt text to display (up to 255 words). You can increase it further if you want more. Just go to wp-content/themes/tower/vc_templates/staff.php file. Find this line of code:
$output .= '<p>'.codeless_text_limit(get_the_excerpt(), 255).'</p>';
and change ONLY the number. Save changes.
I kept the old file and renamed as staff_old.php.-If you want to remove this part of the staff, see screenshot: https://pho.to/AauRr
Then just add this code into your custom css box:.single_staff .featured_img { display: none; }
-By downloading theme files, i meant to download a new copy from your Envato account. Just like you did when you first downloaded theme package after purchase.
See this section of theme’s documentation: https://codeless.co/documentation/main.html#supportLet us know.
Best regards!

The bios were still getting cut off so I changed the code to 500 and went back to the page and nothing changed.
Also, you mentioned that the space below the headshots was the result of something I inadvertently must have screwed up, what do I need to do to get it how it is supposed to be?
Thank you so much for your help!

Hello,
I already explained the staff situation in an old topic of yours. That ‘space’ is the placeholder for the staff featured image. In the middle of the featured image is the bar with the staff socials.
I suggested you add an image for each staff member. Since you did not i assumed this is what you wanted.
Watch this video tutorial to understand how to configure staff elements.I edited out the staff.php file. It does get all your content now.
Best regards!

I found that I needed to upload my picture in a different place so I finally got that fixed, thanks!
And the staff entries look great, thanks. However the breaks between the paragraphs are showing up, do I need to edit some html somewhere?
-
Hello,
You have to edit the text in “Visual” tab, not “Text“. Use the Enter key from your keyboard to break the text, not html.
See screenshot.Best regards!
-
That works fine for the Staff Entry, but it doesn’t work when you look at the Team Page.
-
Hello,
Sorry but it’s not possible to have html tags in the single staff element description text.
Best regards!
